January 2019’s Which? Trusted Trader of the Month is Sheffield Flooring Solutions

For the team at Sheffield Flooring Solutions (SFS), business is a real family affair. Many of the employees are connected by family ties and personal relationships.

Company owner Lisa Clarke believes that’s the magic ingredient that has helped the company achieve its glowing customer reviews.

‘We are proud to say we are a family-run business,’ Lisa told us. ‘That’s what makes everyone go over and above. That’s why we get the reviews we do.

‘To us it’s not about the value of the job, it’s about getting satisfaction for the customer. We give care to absolutely every customer that comes through the door.’

Going ‘over and above’

The firm joined Trusted Traders just over a year ago and the team is thrilled they’ll now be able to display the winner’s logo.

‘I think if you have the Which? Trusted Traders logo it gives customers more confidence,’ Lisa said.

‘It’s great to be able to show we are doing something over and above what everyone else is doing.

‘We’re made up. For a little business in Sheffield, it’s phenomenal.’

Raising thousands to fight diabetes

Judges were also impressed by the company’s fundraising efforts. After an employee’s daughter found out she had type 1 diabetes, SFS helped to raise thousands of pounds for Diabetes UK.

Company secretary Diane Channer’s daughter Ellie was diagnosed aged 16 and raised £10,000 by hosting two balls with the company’s support.

Lisa also took on the charity’s Swim22 Challenge this year, swimming 22 miles over 12 weeks and raising £400.

Diane, who submitted the entry for Trader of the Month, said the company’s family atmosphere made the staff very dedicated to supporting each other and their customers.

‘I feel that if you know someone, you want to go the extra mile for them,’ she said. ‘We like to give that little bit extra back.

‘We are absolutely delighted [to win]. I think it shows how well the business is doing and the confidence that people have in the company. This has really wrapped the year up nicely.’
